What is K12O?
K12O stands for K12 Online Curriculum Programs. We are an online non-profit organization that provides homeschool families, private schools, and hospital home bound students educational options online 365 days a year. We are not affiliated with K12 Public School. How are K120 classes conducted? Our classes are provided using two methods: independent studies and monitored classes. Please visit this video link on this page for a detailed explanation. Our independent studies are courses provided on Google Classroom or a teacher website. For these classes, the student logs in when convenient and completes the weekly assignments. Parents can use the curriculum as lesson plans, to teach at home or the student can complete the class independently. With our monitored classes, the student will be given access to the teacher who created the class via email or live Zoom sessions in case he/she has questions about the assignments. This option is great for families that work out of the home, so the student has the option of having help if needed. In addition, we also offer science labs through our Archimedes Academy. Do you get a full course or parts of a course? The course is uploaded slowly at the student's pace. When you child submits and turns in all the needed paperwork, the next lesson will be uploaded. What will my family need in order to complete a course? Every student needs a good wi-fi connection, computer, a Google/Gmail email address (parent can setup for free), and a spiral notebook or binder. Many curriculum sites online are free, why does your company charge a fee? The majority of the free curriculum sites are full of pop-up ads and involve no feedback or interaction. The dynamics of families have changed through the ages. This means that many times students work on lessons for a few hours alone, while some students have a parent that helps them complete each course. Since the learning experience varies, and student preferences change; we have learned to adapt to each different way of learning by providing an easy formatted lesson that covers all the needed coursework for a class in one area. With the online curriculum, students can work ahead because its self paced. The teacher who created the class will be available to handle grading, tutoring, and parent updates during the course. Do you offer a trial rate? We do not offer a trial rate, please see our sample pages on our website instead. Remember our classes are created by our contract teachers, we have to pay each teacher for access so a trial rate is not feasible. Do you have a 1-800 number? If you have questions please email us or use the contact form on our website. Our non-profit organization will take any questions, and our volunteer staff will direct them to the teacher of the specific class you need. We do ask that if you have questions, please look over our website first. We have been in operation since 2010, so we have worked hard to include detailed information on our website that families have requested. |
